A quick how-to on meditation:
Don't get caught up in the hype! Meditation is really simple. You don't need to know how to fold yourself into the lotus position or find some absolute silent spot, void of all reality. In essence, basic meditation is just a matter of stopping and focusing on your mind, listening to it. For a moment you just sit and focus on your breathing. It can be done sitting on the floor, in a chair, or even standing. The best method that I find is to sit comfortably, let your eyes close slightly and focus on a spot out in front of me on the floor. I take deep breaths and follow the breath through my body. When a thought enters my mind I recognize it and then let it dissolve. Same with sounds I hear or other distractions. If I itch, I scratch it. If I feel uncomfortable, I reposition to be more comfortable. When the time is up I slowly come back to the fast pace of life feeling renewed.
